Privacy
Data, with a reason.
Effective September 3, 2026.
Banquise is operated by MG Networks in Canada. This policy covers the public site, URL requests, API, MCP and MG Edge network protection.
Human search and basic measurement
The beta produces aggregate technical counters — search volume, response outcome, latency and errors — without putting search text, IP addresses or device fingerprints in application logs. One optional Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax cookie stores only the selected language for at most one year.
Edge security
MG Edge temporarily processes the IP address, path, method and technical signals to route requests, limit abuse and block attacks. It does not use them to build an advertising profile. Detailed events are disabled for Banquise unless needed for a security investigation, with restricted access and bounded retention.
API and MCP
The database keeps a SHA-256 key digest, its status and aggregate per-minute and per-day counters. It does not keep the plaintext key, Authorization header, IP address or query text.
URL requests
The service keeps the URL, request type, supplied details and operational outcome. It asks for no identity. Do not put personal or confidential information in the details.
Web index
Banquise processes public pages into a current index: cleaned text, links, metadata, hashes, technical signals, passages and structured records. Response bytes, raw HTML and media are discarded after processing; no WARC or complete page history is kept.
Sharing and transfers
Banquise does not sell personal data and currently uses neither behavioural advertising nor advertising analytics. Operational data remains in MG Networks’ Canadian infrastructure, except traffic required to reach public sites visited by the crawler. When an establishment map is shown, the browser requests only the visible tiles from OpenStreetMap; that service then receives the IP address and the banquise.ca origin, but never the path or search terms.
Your choices
You can clear the language cookie in your browser and request correction or removal of an exact URL. For a privacy question, write to ops@mgnetworks.ca.
Future analytics and advertising
Banquise Analytics, webmaster measurement and sponsored visibility are not active in this beta. Before launch, Banquise will publish the exact data, purposes, retention periods, recipients and applicable choices, keep non-essential options off by default and request separate consent where required. Contextual advertising may use the current page or search without creating a cross-site profile; existing history will not be reused for a new purpose without the required notice and choice.
